# Lists

> Organize records into a Company Platform workflow without creating a separate contact database.

# Lists

A list is a Company Platform workspace for receiving, organizing, and working records through a defined process.

## List vs. Records

Records stores workspace-wide people, interests, and companies. A list gives selected records:

* list-specific stages
* custom working fields
* assignments and collaboration
* a source or Connect receive target
* a focused view for one process

A list does not replace the underlying person or interest.

## Create a list

1. Open **Lists** and create a list.
2. Name it after the process, region, product, or partnership it represents.
3. Define stages that describe real work outcomes.
4. Add only fields the team will maintain in this list.
5. Configure permissions and assignments.
6. Attach a source or Connect endpoint.

## Design useful stages

Use stages that help the team answer “what should happen next?”

For example:

```text theme={null}
New → Contacted → Qualified → Won
                      └──────→ Lost
```

Avoid mixing commercial transaction states with sales-work stages. Confirmation, Storno, and payout belong to the transaction lifecycle.

## Receive through Connect

A list can be the target of an Airlead Connect partnership. Before activation:

* agree on required fields
* preview the field mapping
* receive one synthetic lead
* verify person, interest, and list values
* confirm how feedback is sent upstream

## When to use a channel instead

Use a Markets channel when you need to:

* distribute interests to several buyers
* manage pools and field criteria
* apply exclusive or multi-delivery rules
* create commercial transactions and settlements
* use Delivery 1.0 for automated delivery

Use a Company list when your team receives and works the leads.

## Common questions

### Can the same person appear in two lists?

Yes. The lists can represent different processes while referring to the same underlying person.

### Why did changing a person affect another list?

Person fields are shared record data. List-specific fields and stages remain local to the list.

### Why is a record in Records but not in my list?

It may have entered through another source, channel, or list, or the placement step may not have included this list.
